QuTech attends the 2026 Quantum Australia Conference.

It was a fantastic few days for QuTech at the Quantum Australia Conference in Adelaide, with our members contributing across research, engagement, and outreach.

🔹 QuTech exhibition booth
We were proud to host an exhibition booth, sharing QuTech’s research, training programs, and industry engagement with the broader quantum community.

🔹 Showcasing Australia’s quantum strengths
Professor Glenn Solomon highlighted QuTech’s work and capabilities during the “Australia’s Quantum Research Powerhouses” session, helping raise the profile of our centre within the national quantum ecosystem.

🔹 Student research on display
Our PhD students presented impressive posters:
Admir Bajraktarevic – Wavefront shaping and deep confocal imaging applications with superconducting nanowire single photon detectors.
Jacob Charvetto – Quantum‑Well Barrier Development for InGaSb 1.9 µm diode lasers.
****A special congratulations to Jacob Charvetto, who won the KPMG‑sponsored poster prize****

🔹 Hands‑on outreach and engagement
Working with the Adelaide Optics Chapter, Jacob Charvetto helped demonstrate The Australian Institute of Physics’s Laser Playpen, giving school students a hands‑on experience aligning real optical systems.

🔹 Careers and inspiration
QuTech COO Dr Ruth Shaw spoke to over 180 high school students, teachers, and career advisors about Careers in STEM during the Careers Open Day, hosted by the Sydney Quantum Academy, helping inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Thank you to the organisers and everyone who stopped by to connect with the QuTech team. It was an energising showcase of Australia’s vibrant and growing quantum community.
