Professor Kishan Dholakia elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.
QuTech Chief Investigator Professor Kishan Dholakia has been elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, one of the nation’s highest honours for scientific achievement.
The Fellowship recognises Professor Dholakia’s internationally leading contributions to photonics—the science of light—and the significant impact of his work across both fundamental research and real-world applications. His research spans advances in optical physics through to interdisciplinary breakthroughs in imaging, precision measurement, and biomedical diagnostics and therapeutics.
Professor Dholakia is Director of the Centre of Light for Life at Adelaide University, where he has played a key role in strengthening South Australia’s position as a global hub for photonics research and innovation. Under his leadership, the Centre has expanded its research footprint, fostered international collaborations, and attracted emerging talent to the state.
He joins a distinguished cohort of newly elected Fellows for 2026, recognised for their outstanding contributions across a wide range of scientific fields and for advancing knowledge with global impact.
This recognition highlights both Professor Dholakia’s exceptional career and the strength of Australia’s research community in driving innovation and discovery.
