Professor Kishan Dholakia wins the 2025 SA Scientist of the Year Award

QuTech Chief Investigator and Node Leader, Professor Kishan Dholakia, was awarded the South Australian Scientist of the Year 2025! 

The prestigious award was presented by the Chief Scientist for South Australia, Professor Craig Simmons. The award recognises Kishan’s groundbreaking contributions to optics and photonics – harnessing the power of light as sensing tools for medicine, biology, and beyond. His work beautifully combines fundamental physics with real-world impact, advancing technologies that make a difference.

“South Australia is an extraordinary home for science – it embraces innovation and values excellence in collaboration. We are small enough to know one another and yet ambitious enough to take on global challenges. From quantum technologies and photonics to medical research, renewable energy and beyond, our state is making a mark far beyond its borders and I am indebted and excited to contribute to that journey.”
